Regulation cars

We don't have the list of cars which cannot be imported into Korea. The classification of cars doesn't effect the clearance. You can check the tarriff rate for each items to be imported to Korea on this webpage( http://english.customs.go.kr/hp/eng/plaza/eef__000/eef__000.html).
And the HS code for cars(designed for transport of persons) will be basically 8703. Whether the cars are new or used does not effect to the classification of HS code.Try to put the word "Vehicle or car" or "HS code 8703" in the search window. You will get rough information on it. PLZ, be attention. On this page, you can get the only custosm duty rate, not all the tax rates which will be levied on imported cars.

I would like to know all Tax at Korea when I import a car.

Basic Tarriff(Duty) Rare : 8%(the same to all)
Special Excise Tax : 5% or 10%(depends on the cylinder capacity)
Educational Tax : 30%
VAT : 10%
You need to check detail specification of cars.

Do I need to prepare any paperwork or ask Korea govement to import cars before I ship the car to Korea?

1. invoice
2. price declaration
3. copy of B/L or copy of AWB
4. P/L
5. certificate of origin( if needed)

The owner of the cars should register their cars to jurisdical authority before they use it. The imported cars shuld be certified that they have no problem enviornmental issues. They should go through the procedures about safety, noise and vibration at the relavant organization. And I believe that this issue is more important than customs duty. Before you ship the cars, you NEED CHECK out this. Unfortunately, this is not the duty of Cusotms. And, here you got the homepage of the relavant organization.
